If you live in North Florida and haven't been living in a cave, cut off from the outside world for the past year, then you probably know that North Florida is finally getting an IKEA. The Jacksonville IKEA store, opening this Fall will be even closer to Tallahassee than the current closest location in Orlando.
Jacksonville will bring an IKEA 'furniture assembly not-included' store almost two-hours closer to Tallahassee, with 290,000 square-feet of showroom space, DIY furniture, rugs, kitchen utensils, artwork, linens, curtains, toys, luggage... and yes, even the famous IKEA Swedish Meatballs. Located off 295 & Gate Parkway in Jacksonville, just minutes from the St. Johns Town Center and the newly opened Top Golf, the store will offer the same great prices on decent-quality furniture and household items that you'd expect from your most recent memory from the store. The layout will be different - however the maze design, allowing you to get virtual lost in the store will still be present. Assembly Smart, an IKEA assembly service in Jacksonville open for business, with plans to expand service to Tallahassee & Gainesville soon, clearly targeting the college demographic with Florida State and University of Florida students respectively. They come to your home and provide in-home IKEA assembly at an affordable hourly rate (just $49/hour at time of writing). IKEA in Jacksonville is scheduled to open this Fall, between August & November.
